"Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your... uh... you're a cake?!"
That's right, she sure is.
I made this little Tangled doll into a birthday cake for my best friend's 3 year old princess. Now, everyone knows my "I'm not a professional cake decorator" saying from my other cake posts and it holds true. This cake is far from perfect, but hey I'm an event planner, not a pastry chef. The good news is, the birthday girl loved it. :)
Yes, this is another phone picture... my apologies.
Other cakes I've made...
Inside info: Their are two different icings on this cake. The underlay of the dress and the body was made from a sculptable buttercream icing. The rest of the dress and the piping was all done with cream cheese icing.
I got the sculptable buttercream recipe from Pinterest (or the direct website is here). I was hoping to try it on the entire cake to get a fondant look with buttercream flavor... wrong! lol I though fondant could be difficult at times, this stuff cracked more than a window would next to the sandlot! However, I think that might have been my fault, I waited a little too long to roll it out. I will be trying this again so I will let you know how it goes.
Have you ever attempted to make a unique cake?
How did it go? I love to hear about your experiences.
What did you think of this cake?
